Boise State to Launch Innovative Online Digital Design Program

Boise State to Launch Innovative Online Digital Design Program

By Amy Atkins

When the fall 2021 semester at Boise State University started late last month, a large number of students were beginning or continuing to work toward a degree in healthcare. In the 2020-21 academic year, six of the 10 undergraduate programs with the highest enrollment were in healthcare fields, with Nursing taking the top spot. However, at No. 4 is Computer Science. Now, a new major slated for 2022 may attract more degree seekers to technology: Bachelor of Arts in Digital Innovation and Design.

Idaho Press recently reported that BSU “received unanimous approval from the Idaho State Board of Education to launch a new online Bachelor of Arts in Digital Innovation and Design for spring 2022. This program is an expansion of the existing certificate programs offered through the College of Innovation and Design.”

In a recent U.S. News and World Report, BSU was ranked No. 39 for online bachelor’s programs (and No. 26 for online bachelor’s programs for veterans), noting that “flexibility and strong advising and support services make BSU’s online programs a good fit for busy, working adults.” The new DID program should also be well-suited for students looking to customize their learning experience—without breaking the bank. According to BSU, the cost is $350 per credit, and there are no out-of-state fees for non-Idaho residents. Students can choose from certificates including User Experience Design, Content Production, Creative Influence, User Experience Research and Applied Leadership.
